Birthday Cake!

My friend and I were chatting on FB and she told me she would have me do a cake for her daughter's birthday, but it was too close to Christmas. I haven't seen her in years so of course I did it for a good excuse to visit close friends that I hadn't seen for a while. It was worth every minute of time working on this cake to see her and her family.
Especially her Mom who I think is a very strong and neat woman.

My first time making fondant from scratch....so it's not that great....hope next one is better, but I still thought it turned out okay.

cherry blossom

I woke up the other morning and realized that it was my sis-in-laws birthday. I wanted to try a cherry blossom cake, and a new recipe, so I got up and started baking.....this is the result!
Strawberry lemonade cake with lemon icing.

Thank you! Thank you!

Someone's getting a cake....and someone's getting some great pictures!! The two auctions are now closed. You can still get Pampered Chef though!
Thanks so much!
You can still donate. A new auction is starting November 2nd.
In the comfort of my home everyday I can only imagine spending so much time in the hospital as the Skinners have had too! They still have quite a ways to go, let's not forget that! My prayer is that they can soon lead a normal life outside of the hospital.
Thanks again!

{Update}

Thanks to everyone so far on bidding and donating to the Skinners. I can't believe how much we've already raised together, and am amazed and humbled by the generosity. Remember the biddings are not over yet, and hopefully we'll have a few more things up for auction here soon. I've had quite a few people wonder how to bid and wonder where the bids are at. To see the last bid go to the bottom of the post that you would like to bid on and you'll see "comments". There you can see where the bid is at and bid higher than the last person. Even just $5 above the previous bidder will secure the item. (That is, unless someone comes after and bids more) If you want to remain anonymous just e-mail me and I'll post the higher bid for you.

Also, don't forget you can just go here and simply donate.
You can also help by adding Benson and Claire's button to your blog to get the word out. Click on the button to the right and you'll see the download info.
(don't understand how to do it...e-mail me)
So glad that little Claire is feeling a little better. You're in our thoughts and prayers Skinners.
Thanks again everyone!
Keep checking back for more auctions to bid on!!

Cake for a cause!!

See the new button on my blog over to the right?? Click on it and read about cute little Claire, Benson and their sweet family. Jared went to school with us and he and John are good friends. Money and bills should be the least of their troubles right now. Not that we can pay all of their bills, but every little piece of the pie, or in this instance, CAKE helps right? So..think about an event that you might need a cake for (ie. work party, birthday, wedding, baby shower, thank you, anniversary, holidays, so many reasons for a cake) and let's start the bidding!!!! Two tier, whatever flavor....send me pictures of what you might have in mind. (I might even post them as the bids starts, fun huh??) Bid by leaving a comment, the amount, and your e-mail address. (If you want to be anonymous then e-mail me at allishaandjohnmoss@gmail.com and let me know what your bid is)
Of course all the proceeds go to Jared's family.

LET THE BIDDING BEGIN!!!
(Bid will end October 18th @ 7:00 P.M)
(Starts at $30)

(Not a cake of mine, just a fun idea)

Just another idea. If you have a trick of some trade you can do an auction on, put it on your blog to help out, or let me know and I'll post it on here to bid on! Let's help this wonderful family with their very difficult struggle. (If you do an auction on your blog let me know and I'll link it.)

ADDED NOTE: I've had a few people want me to mention that you can't even get a buttercream wedding cake for less than $100 at a grocery store. This is a fondant cake AND...I will increase this to a three tier cake. If you know anyone getting married, having a big holiday dinner or work party....have them visit the site. It would be a GREAT price for them. A three tier cake will feed atleast 115 people!! Thanks everyone!

Did I mention???

I do announcements as well. I'll try to find a few and post them. In the first post I did on this blog there is a front of an announcement that I did. (I didn't post the back for privacy of the person that I did it for) BUT...we matched the cake and cupcakes with the invitation. Kinda fun! I'll post prices on here soon of cakes, invites and announcements.

{Tinkerbell cake}

Add this to favorites. I had a great time doing this cake for a sweet little two year old's birthday. Strawberry with white chocolate frosting. Can I just say the cake is real strawberry not the imitation flavoring? Mmmm...
Thanks Tiff for letting me do this! Let's do lunch.

{Fireman helmet}

Congrats to Josiah who just graduated from the fire department!
This was my first 3-D cake. No I'm not Ace of Cakes. Not even close. I'm not great at 3D, but it was kinda fun. This cake is chocolate with chocolate hazelnut filling. Cupcakes are banana, with banana mousse filling and cream cheese frosting. Pretty darn good, I must admit.
Thanks Jessie for letting me do this for you! It was great practice. I hope you liked it!

La La's Cake~

So many nicknames....public blog....so my little boy calls the bride La La. Here's La La's cake that was my first wedding cake. It was very scary to have the pressure of a wedding, but GREAT to do. The colors were shades of pink and Navy blue. (Her hubby is in the marines I believe, so it was fun to add the blue) Several eggs, powdered sugar, and hours later this is what I came up with.....

Fondant with gumpaste roses and leaves. Carrot cake and lemon cake tiers with cream cheese frosting.

Ya Ya's Birthday Cake~

I won't use names on this blog, but my sweet little niece had a birthday. Long story short she really wanted me to do a cake. I ran out of time and her Mom told her I couldn't do it. One look at her face and went home and started this cake at 10 p.m. and finished at 1 a.m.
The look on her face when I gave it to her made it well worth it.
Happy Birthday Ya Ya. (her nickname)

Baby Shower

So I'm still in the practice mode and think it's great to have an excuse to make a cake. My latest excuse was for my sis-in-laws baby shower. She's a wonderful Mom of 6 with her 7th on the way! So we thought it would be fun to surprise her with a party. Cake topper is banana flavored with raspberry filling and butter cream icing. (of course covered in fondant) Cupcakes are banana flavored with cream cheese frosting.

Past Cakes

I've decided to start a blog of my cakes in hopes that sometime when I get a little better at them people will want to hire me and have me make them cakes. Here are a few fun and not so great first time cakes. I'm not the most talented, but I love to make them, and seeing people's faces when they see their cakes.

This last cake topper with the cupcakes is probably my favorite so far! So many possibilities!!
Oh...here's the invites that I did to match.
